440C Stainless Steel Knife Blades

440C Stainless Steel has the highest strength, hardness and wear resistance of all the stainless alloys. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics, which make 440C particularly well suited for knife blades. 440C also allows smooth polished surfaces and razor sharp edges.

There are also 440A and 440B Stainless Steels. They have a lower carbon content, which makes them not quite as strong or hard as 440C.

In addtion to its strength and hardness, 440C Stainless Steel Knife Blades have a high corrosion resistance. It has good resistance to the atmosphere, fresh water and mild acids. This is the best material to be used for a knife blade.
